On receipt of the New Zealand Government's cable stating that the repairs to the Aurora would occupy at least GO clays owing to labour uncertainty, the British Government decided, owing to 'the receipt of an urgent cable from Bir E. Shackleton, to clespatch a vessel frbm England, though the journey from Plymouth to Elephant Island is twice the distance it is from Wellington. The Hudson Bay Company's whaler the Discovery, used in tlie 1910 expedition, which lias been loaned as a vessel for the relief, leaves in a few days. It will be towed most of the journey so as to save time. It is considered that the effort Shackleton is now making has little chance of success. THE AURORA. (Prom Our Own Correspondent).
