SUBMARINE OPERATIONS
MEW GERMAN TYPE TO COMBAT ARMED MERCHANTMEN (By Telegraph—Press Assn. —Copyright) LONDON, February 15. The Hull Daily Telegraph states that Germany has built a new type of submarine monitor with a large, cylindrical hall whereon is a long watertight battery protected by armour and carrying powerful guns. The vessel has a high speed, and is able to keep her hull below the water while the battery is in action. She is thus practically immune from armed merchantmen’s gunfire, and can easily submerge if a warship attacks her.
