OPENING OP PARLIAMENT THE KING’S SPEECH (By Telegraph—Press Assn. —Copyright) LONDON, February 15. The King, in the course of his speech at the opening of Parliament, said: “The spirit of my allies and my people who are united in this conflict, and are ever strengthening the ties of sympathy and understanding, remains steadfast in the resolve to secure reparation for the victims of unprovoked and unjustifiable outrage, and to secure an effectual safeguard for all nations against the aggression of a Power which mistakes force for right and expediencey for honour. With proud and grateful confidence I look to the courage, tenacity, and resource of our navy to worthily perform our part in the attainment of this goal. The only measures to be introduced will be such as tend towards the attainment of our common object. I confidently commend these lo your patriotism and loyalty, and 1 pray that the Almighty may give blessings to your counsels.’’ AQDHSSS-IH-EEPLY. TRIBUTE TO COLONIALS. QUESTION OF AIR REPRISALS. Macpherson (Liberal) moved the Ad-Urcss-in-rteply. lie paid a tribute to the heroism of the Australasians and other colonials. Colonel .lackson seconded the motion. He said lie did not believe Britain was capable of playing the same dirty game on the enemy. If air reprisals were attempted bo thought we would make a mistake. lie sincerely hoped that the old British traditions of being able to play the game would be continued. Economy seemed to be the only sacrifice the country was nor prepared to make. li' economy was not secured voluntarily, it should be enforced by legislation. The Address was agreed to.
