Five taxi cab drivers were taking a spin in the Domain when the car overturned and one, Allshorn, was killed, and the others badly injured. ACCIDENT ON H.M.S. AUSTRALIA. LONDON, August 19. Received August 19, 8,5 p.m. The fall of a derrick aboard the Australia after leaving St. Vincent, killed Petty Officer Holmes. RUN OX’ER. AUCKLAND. August 19. Frederick William Soppett of Mercer, died in the hospital this morning from injuries sustained by being run over by a truck at the Union Coal Company's siding, near Mercer, yesterday afternoon. DROWNED. WESTPORT. August 19. A boat presumably belonging to a Frenchman named Louis Tardi. a resident of XX’estport, got into the breakers off Cape Foulwind tills afternoon, and was swamped and the occupant drowned. No one got a very clear view of the accident. Tardi came to Westport some years ago as cook on a sailing vessel. He had artistic tastes, which were given effect to in paintings in every colour of oils. As far as is known locally he has no relatives in New Zealand,
