RAILWAY ELECTRIFICATION

The Government electrical engineer, Mr Even Perry, will visit Kaoti'.il this Week to Investigate and report on the project for working electrically the proposed now branch railway I'rom the Main Trunk line to Kaelihi. A local company had In view the construction of an electric tramway from Kaetihi to too Main Trunk railway. Mr Perry's mission is to look into the matter and advise the Government before any steps are taken to put the ordinary branch railway in hand. The construction of this line, which will he about nine milet In length, was authorised last session under the Railways Authorisation Act. The new railway will go through some very valuable hush, which it already being operated upon by a number of sawmills, so that it is certain that when toe line is constructed it will carry fairly heavy timber traffic.
