LABOUR MATTERS,
BREACHES OE AWARD. P.-r United Press Association. ASHBURTON, Feb. 12. At the Magistrate's Court to-day before Mr V. G. Day, S.M., Thcopilus Best, was charged witii having committed a breach of the Christchurch tailoring award in working for ,21 17s Gd, instead of £2 15s per week as the award provides. Mr W. H. llaggar appeared for the Department, and defendant was fined ten shillings. C. Andrews and Co. were charged with a breach of the same award in employing two apprentices. The linn was also charged with a breach of the award in respect of Best, and a line of 40s without costs was inflicted in each case.
