The Victoria Home
To the Editor. Sir, —Kindly allow me space in your paper to remove a misapprehension receding the financial position of the Vic!tftria Memorial Homo for friendless girly. Excepting a small sum contributed by such of the inmates as are able, the Home is wholly supported by voluntary contributions and donations, together with the proceeds of the laundry. No part of our income has ever come from the Government or from the rates. I hope
this will meet the eye of a visitor to the Home on Wednesday, who refused to accept the statement of our matron to this effect, and rudely protested that it stood in the same position as the Bowinont Street Home. Should any further information be desired by him, it will be
furnished by me or by any member of the committee, but we refuse to allow our matron to be again insulted. She is doing a Christ-like work in. a Christ-like spirit, and should receive- the sympathy and aid of all who claim to be llis followers.—! am, etc.,
ELIZABETH S. BAIRD, President Victoria Home. Spey street, 4th May.
