The trial match between two Soutliland teams was commenced on tho Eastern Reserve yesterday. For various reasons several of the players selected oould not take part, and their places had to bo filled by others, Die game losing much of its interest in consequence. A team of thirteen- batted first and put up 80 runs, to which an eleven responded with 4G. The morning's rain hail made the wicket sticky, thus assisting the bowlers, so that high s.oring was not to bo expected, ln thoir second innings the thirteen have lost two wickets for Gl runs.
