• (Per Pbess Association) GREYMOUTH, Nov. 28. A fire broke out about 10 o’clock to-day in a building belonging to Hunter and Russell, carpenters, which was totally destroyed; also-the adjoining cottage and the drill-shed. Another hitch occurred with the steam fire engine, causing delay in getting it to the fire. The volunteers lost all their ammunition, and the big gun was not got out. There were frequent explosions during the fire. - Bignell and Russell lost all inside their building. The drill-shed was the best hall in town. The insurances are:— Russell and Bignell: stock, L2OO in the Victoria ; building, L2OO in the Phcenix. Drillshed : building,' L 350 in the Straits Company; scenery, LlOO in the Manchester. Gilmer’s cottage, £/75 in the Manchester. CHRISTCHURCH, Nov. 29. A lad of sixteen years,'named Hans Neilson, was drowned at Woodend beach yesterday while fishing.
