Mr Gray, Secretary of Telegraphs, has received a telegram £r»m the otfieer in charge at Colliugwood, stating that two men named Ooiiey and HearJ, who have jusl arrived there from West Wanganui, report a volcanic eruption at the latter place, not far froui the Golden Ridge claim. Three largo fissures are apparent about eight feet wide at the top, and gradually narrowing. Thousands of tons of debris huve beeu .thrown up, and ateam is s : till issuing from the fissures.
