Leaders of the coal miners in Britain believe the output will return to normal .shortly. Pity the same cannot be said for New Zealand. Owing, . it is said, to the miners’ adoption of a go-slow policy, the price of coal, in the case of two mines, has been raised by 4s a ton. Kaitangata coal has also been raised 3s 6d a ton.

Tin; Rev. John Dawson, New Zealand’s Prohibition delegate in America, addressed a meeting in the Y.M.G.A. rooms on Monday, Mr J. S. Baxter presiding. In.the course of his address, Mr Dawson sand that what he had seen and heard in the U.S.A. had been more enthusiastically in favour of prohibition than ever.
