Mr David Cunningham, engaged in the Wyndham Dairy Factory, has been appointed manager of O’Kain’s Dairy Factory, Akaroa district. .***' . 'The Waipawa Mail reports that a Hastings farmer who shipped a large quantity of potatoes to the Cape is thoroughly satisfied with the market. After paying expenses, he had a clear profit of £lB per ton, netting nearly £IOOO. The storm which lately swept over a wide area to the north of Newcastle (N.S.W.) ruined the crops in all directions. Immense hailstones fell, and in some places they killed poultry, dogs, and pigs. # # * * The winter lambing returns in New South Wales average 48|- per cent., or about 44 per cent, above those of last winter It is estimated that the total number of sheep and lambs in the colony is 35,868,000, a decrease of over five millions since January last. J * * * At the Christchurch show Messrs T. and J. T. Carswell, of Southland, secured first and champion prize for bull of any age.
