The National Mortgage and Agency Co. report as follows of the Invercargill yards sale of 16th inst : Fat Cattle —99 head yarded, of which about 20 were good beef, the balance all classes of cows and steers. The demand was only nominal; even for the few good pens there were hardly any buyers, and but for graziers coming to the rescue the bulk of the entry must have been turned out unsold. However, nearly every line was sold, best bullocks bringing L 6 10s for medium weights; light, L 5 to L 6 ; best cows up to L 6 2s 6d ; light, L 3 10s to L 4 10s. Fat Sheep—l46o entered, and great difficulty was experienced in placing them, as butchers were hardly buying anytning, but graziers again helped to keep the market fairly good. Extra heavy wethers brought up to 9s 3d; ordinary, 6s 6d to 8s; fat ewes, 5s to 6s. Store Sheep—3l47 entered, including a lot of very inferior and cull ewes. Haywood, who has. also purchased Mr Aw.dry’s farm, at £6 6s each, after keen competition. Taking) the sale all round we are very pleased with the result, that being a long way above expectations.
