GOLDEN WEDDING.

I VOLKERLING—TASOHNER. i ': An event of considerable interest | to the friends and relatives of Mr and Mrs Gustav Volkerling, of Pukepapa Road, took placo on May ' 2t>th in the Lutheran Church, Mar- ! ton, when their friends and relatives j assembled together to thank and ,' praise God for His grace and proj teotion during their fifty years of married life. Mr and Mrs Volker- ' ling were married on May 26th, ' IS7O. In 1875 they emigrated to Hew ' Zealand, arriving in Wellington oa ; July 11th, 1575, They immediately | moved to Mt. Corl, near Martoa, ' and spent thair best life there ', pioneering. Afterwards by thrift I they acquired a small farm on which ! they worked and reared their family. Eight years ago on account of advancing age thoy decided to live a retired lifein Marton. After; Divine service Mr Klitscher, ' on behalf of the entire congregation, 1 presented Mr and Mrs Volkering ' with a large framed picture of .'"Christen Gethsamaue." At the j wedding breakfust in the house the i usual toasts were honoured, the : choir responding to its toast with , the singing of two anthems. After the wedding breakfast the children presented their parents with a i beautiful oak frame, with gold plate inlaid, containing the words "To Father and Mother for their j 50th Anniversary of their Wedding—--1 May 26th, 1870—May 26th, 1920. From their grateful children." | This frame will later contain the ■ photograph of the family. Ten children and twenty-eight grand children were born within this family during their fifty years of wedded life. Three children have predeceased tivam, seven are living, three sons, Albert and Emil, of Raetihi, and William of Mt Curl and four daughters, Mrs T W JB Goile, Marton; Mrs A Meyer and Mrs F Todd, Raetihi, and Mra Q (Bergen, H.MP,.
