Per PrefS Association. Christchurch. August 13 Christchurch Presbytery to-dav passed a resolution: That the proposal to exempt alcohol for church communion purposes iu the petition for suggested legislation to be presented to Parliament next session, was not required so far as tbo Presbyterian Church is concerned. The Presbytery passed a resolution expressing sympathy with the petition in connection with ’prohibition on the lints c.f the Efficiency Board’s proposals, and urging the people to sign the pes.tit.ion. The following motion was carried : “That the Presbytery, while strongly in favour of ail legitimate endeavours to provide trench comforts for soldiers at the front, protest against these patriotic schemes being made a cover for gambling, or the raotrgag>ng of the day of rest with nonsacred or semi-sacred Sunday concerts ”
