SOMES ISLAND ESCAPEES.

NOT YET FOUND. Per Press Association Wellington, August 9. All efforts to discover the whereabouts of the four Germans who disappeared from their quarters on Somes Island at an early hour thisr morning have su proved unsuccessful Authorities on the Island profess to be satisfied that the men did not escape in a boat. The weather was very tempestuous and a heavy sea running ;in the harbour, and the idea that the men attempted to swim to the mainland is not entertained. It is possible they may be hidden underaround somewhere oa the Island. They were all wearing blue or brown denimns and military" boots.
