SOUTH WALES CHAMPIONSHIPS. United Press Association. —By Electric Telegraph Copyright. Sydney, December 9. The tennis tournament concluded to-day in bright and hot weather. Rice and E. L, Jones beat Parker and Lowe, .6 —8, 6—3, 6-—4. Dixon and Beamish beat Rice and E. L. Jones, 9—-7, 6—4, The play was again full of interest although the winners of the tournament were already decided. Jones played confidently and cleverly. Dixon was very safe and heady, placing side shots admirably. Britain won six rubbers, 13 sets, 132 games. New Soutii Wales won two rubbers,' eight sets and 112 games. Speaking at a dinner, Mr Colquhoun, president of the Association, said tbe!.rules..of international tennis should be revised. The question of the venue of the Davis Cup was one of the most difficult. The suggestion that it should bo played alternately in different . countries was good. Mr Dixon, captain of the British team, declared that Alfred Jones played magnificentl}', and would be a worthy successor to Brookes.
