OTAKI MYSTERY SOLVED.

REMAINS OF MR S. J. BEATTIE FOUND. Per Press Association. Qtaki, October 13. A sensation was caused here today when it became known that the remains of Mr Stanley J. Beattie, who was lost on , the ,ranges N • many months ago, had been found at the back of Waihoanga by three lads Sidney Diaper, Bethel, and Albert Collier.

The boys, who were out rabbithunting, found the body in the Sand on the bank of the river, and at once informed 'Mrs Collier', who rang up Constable Satherley late last evteniug. The constable went to the scene at an early hour this morning, and dug the body from the sand. ®Gne arm was intact, but a portion of the left was gone. The left kg was ground to be broken, and the right foot had a boot on. His riding pants were torn, and it was evident that Beattie had had a rough experience.

He had on a shirt, a belt, a aoid watch, lace guard, sheath and knife, all of which have been recognised as belonging to Beattie. The remains were brought into town by Constable Satherley.
