GERMANS IN SAMOA.

SPEECH BY THE ADMIRAL. Press Association. Auckland, April 13. Samoa papers received by the Yeddo, referring to the visit of German warships, state that on March 20th, Vice-Admiral Ooerper and hia Chief of Staff, attended a Fouo held by the Governor for Samoans. The Vice-Admiral took the opportunity to inform natives of the object of hia visit. He explained that he was sent bv the Kaiser with powerful ships to protect loyal and friendly Samoans, but he would not hesitate to use arms against those who opposed the orders of Government with rebellions intent and had made impertinent demands. Admiral Goerper concluded: “I will energetically support the policy which the Governor, your father, is carrying out in this colony in accordance with the wishes of Hia Majesty the Kaiser. ’ ’ The speech made a marked impression on the natives. Mataafa visited the German warships and welcomed them in the name of the Samoans.
