On Thursday afternoon a sad fatal accident occurred at Kariotahi, when a little boy named Robert Muir Thomson, son of Mr 11. M. Thomson, met his death undor peculiar circumstances. The little fellow was out in the pad\A> it some distance from his futlier who* tvas engaged; ploughing. lie wal running along and had opened a 4jjg gate which had swung round witft the heavy gale blowing and knprke<l the child over, pinning him to ground and suffocating him. The accident had happened some minutes before the father's notice was drawn to it, and all efforts to restore life failed. Dr. Howden was called in at once but could do nothing. An inquest was held at the parents' residence on Saturday morning before the Coioner, Mr W. J. King, J.P., without a jurj. After hearing tho parents' evidence a verdict was returned of death from misadventure. Sincere sympathy if felt for the distressed parents, who are much esteemed residents. The Rev. Father Wright has left Woiuku and taken up duty at Waihi. Rev. Father Skinner has beon in charge of Waiuku parish for the past few weeks. J ♦
