RACING
BLOODSTOCK SALE Messrs D. and R. Douglas appear to have secured a bargain at the Pukekohe bloodstock sales a few days ago in the purchase of a bay colt by Pictavia from Siega at 320 guineas. This colt would be a fullbrother to the three-year-old Dennis O’Kelly, which has been only once unplaced this season in nine starts. Dennis O’Kelly has secured four firsts, two seconds and a third. Messrs D. and R. Douglas’ colt is a half-brother to Sedgemere, Revelga and Revella. The mare Siega is by Siegfried from Auruculus, and goes back to Birkenhead and Apremont, and the mare Idalia.
The top price of the sale, 425 guineas, was realised by a colt by Probation from Northland Rose, sold on account of Mr W. J. Strevens, of Auckland. The breeder is a son of Mrs Strevens, of Morrinsville. A brown filly by Balloch from Sursea was also sold cheaply on account of Mr J. Pohlfen, of .Matamata, at 200 guineas.
