SCHOOL COMMITTEE

MONTHLY MEETING Those present at the monthly meeting of i the Putaruru School Committee, held last week, were Messrs. A. C. Anderson (chairman), E. I. Henshaw (secretary), T. I*. Pearce, J. Martin, A. J. Lennox, Mrs. E. Jones and Mrs. K. Putt. School Cleaning The secretary reported- that a tender had been received for the position of school cleaners, and he was instructed to contact the applicants and to go further into the matter with them. Hall Vacated It was also reported that the school children had vacated the Methodist Hall, and. it was decided, to notify the Education Board off this fact. Donation Mr. G. Bonnici is to be thanked for his donation of half a ton of coke to the school. First Aid Material Mrs. Putt suggested that. the school should be provided with some emergency blankets, etc., and after a little discussion it was decided to purchase some hot water bottles, some bandages and up to six army blankets for use in emergencies by the school. Shelter Shed to be Moved Mr. Lennox was empowered to move the shelter shed on the Overdale Road to the new bus terminus on that road. It was also decided to contact the county council in order to arrange for the provision of a turning point for the bus there as well.
