POTENTIAL SETTLEMENT To the South of Putaruru J In connection with a regional - planning survey, Mr. M. E. Fitzj gen-ald, engineer to the Matamata County Council, has taken out the | following approximate facts and j figures with regard to the a**ea south of Putaruru, towards Taupo. ! In the triangle from Lichfie'd to i the outskirts of Rotorua ar.d to Taupo, there are roughly 1,000,000 j acres. I The area is wholly within the , Waikato basin and wholly within the three counties of Matamata, , Rotcerua and Taupo. ; Of the 1,000,000 acres, approxi- . mately 300,000 acres are in forest i (mostly exotic), 250,000 acres are potential dairying land, 250,000 acres sheep and cattle country.
