Compliment to Retiring Master
Owing to the illness of Mr. J. T. Daly, retiring headmaster of Napier Central School, a presentation planned by the pupils was carried out at Mr. Daly’s home on Monday. Mr. V. ti. Sanders, chairman ol' the school committee, and Mr. Ennor, secretary, accompanied a deputation comprising Mr. R. McGlashan, representing the staff, and Audrey King, a senior pupil of the school, on the visit to Mr. Daly's home, and witnessed the presentation of a combination desk and bedside table. A letter signed by representatives of each class and standard in the school conveyed to Mr. Daly the good wishes of the children for his speedy recovery from his present illness, and a happy retirement. These good wishes were endorsed by the school committee representatives, and Mr. Daly made an appreciative response. The retiring headmaster >f Napier Central was formerly in charge of Kaiti School, Gisborne, and Mr. V. E. Sanders, chairman of the Napier Central committee, also has many Gisoorne associations.
