PIP FRUIT MARKETING
PRICE GUARANTEE ASKED DECISION J\ T NELSON (Per Pross Association.) .NELSON, this day.' Mr. J. Dicker, vice-president of the New Zealand Fruitgrowers' Federation, Limited, presided over a fully representative meeting of Nelson fruitgrowers, the number present being in excess of 160. Messrs. C. F. Skinner, M.P.. H. E. Stephens, chairman of the Fruit Board, A. Osborne, general manager of the Fruitgrowers' Federation, and officers of the horticultural division were in attendance. Messrs. Dicker and Stephens addressed the meeting, advising growers of the result of the negotiations with the Minister of Marketing, the Hon. W. Nash.
Mr. Dicker moved and Mr. C. P. Stannard seconded the following motion: "That this meeting recommend the Internal Marketing Division to take over the marketing of pip fruits for 1940 on the guaranteed price scheme similar to that operating in the dairy industry, the price to be based on the same method adopted at presenit in the dairy industry." The voting, which was Limited to bona fide fruitgrowers, resulted: For. 100; against, 19.
