NO OMINOUS REPORTS
OPINION IN LONDON LONDON, Feb. 20. Official circles in London express the opinion that President Roosevelt did not receive “ominous reports” from abroad after he left Washington to attend the manoeuvres. They consider that his statement was based on the position known throughout the world a week ago. It is impossible to predict when Herr Hitler and Signor Mussolini will press their colonial claims, this depending entirely on the Spanish situation.
The German press* while not publishing President Roosevelt’s statement, hints that he is indulging in deliberate manoeuvres to stimulate the armaments market. The press adds that it is just another example of the hysteria and war psychosis which seem to prevail uninterruptedly in the democratic countries.
