“AT WAR” SINCE 1866
TINY PRINCIPALITY WILL MAKE PEACE NOW LONDON, Feb. 24. Liechtenstein, which has been technically at war with Prussia since 1866, has decided to sign a treaty of peace. This small independent German principality has an area of 60 square miles and a population of 10,000, but it has had no army since 1868. Although only a pocket principality, Liechtenstein dominates one of the most important passes connecting Germany and Switzerland. It was accidentally overlooked when the peace treaty between Austria and Prussia was signed in 1866.
At last the omission is to be repaired, and next week Prince Franz Josef, ruler of the tiny principality, and the head of the Government, Dr. Josef Hoop, will pay a diplomatic visit to Herr Hitler to sign a treaty of peace. Prince Franz Josef, who is young, good-looking, and popular, spends much time in Vienna.
