DISQUALIFICATION LAW LOCAL BODY MEMBERS INTEREST IN CONTRACTS AUDITOR’S COMMENTS (Parliamentary Reporter.) WELLINGTON, this day. Sixteen members of local authorities had to be notified by the Audit Office last year that their seats had been forfeited on account of having been interested in contracts of their local authorities. The Auditor and Controller-General, in his report to Parliament, explains that 12 of the cases related to contracts. In two cases validating legislation had enabled members to continue in their position. That some of these difficulties occur on account of lack of a clear knowledge of the complicated law on the subject,
