WESTFIELD YARDING COMPETITION KEEN FIRMING TENDENCY (Ter Press Association.) AUCKLAND, this day. Firm values ruled at Westfield yesterday. The yards were well stocked with a choice selection of cattle and competition was particularly keen. Over all the market showed a firming tendency. Extra choice ox beef sold at 37s per 100 lb., choice and prime at 33s to 3155, and secondary and plain at 28s to 325. Prime cow and heifer beef made 30s to 365, and plain and unfinished 21s to 295. Extra heavy prime steers sold at £l4 10s to £l6 10s. heavy from £l2 10s to £l4, medium from £ll to £l2 15s, light from £9 15s to £ll 10s and unfinished from £7 to £9 10s. Extra heavy prime cows arid heifers realised £9 10s to £ll 17s 6d, heavy £8 to £9 17s 6d, medium £7 to £8 17s 6d, light £5 15s to £7 15s and unfinished £3 10s to £5 10s.

Wethers were about firm, but ewes showed a slight decline in value. Extra heavy prime wethers brought 35s to 375, heavy 32s to 345, medium 29s 6d to 31s (id, light 26s 6d to 295, and unfinished 18s to 265. Extra heavy prime ewes made 22s to 25s 9d, heavy 20s to 23s 6d, medium 17s to 19s 6d, light 15s to 16s 6d, and unfinished 3s to 14s. Better quality lambs sold well at fully firm rates, the heaviest of the finished grades ranging from 16s 6d to 33s 6d. Smaller and unfinished lots sold ot from 4s to 17s. Calves were in full supply and realised late rates under brisk competition. Good quality was offered. Runners made from £3 15s to £7 ss, heavy vealers from £4 15s to £5 11s, medium from £3 15s to £4 12s, light from £3 3s to £3 14s, smaller sorts from £2 5s to £3, unfinished and bucket fed from £1 to £2 3s and bobby and rough from 3s to 18s. Late rates were maintained by a full yarding of prime quality fat pigs. Dairy farmers came into the store market, causing prices to advance substantially. Choppers realised from £1 10s to £4 ss, heavy'baconers from £4 4s to £4 12s, medium from £3 16s to £4 ss, and light from £3 10s to £3 18s. Heavy porkers made £3 4s to £3 11s, medium £2 14s to £3 3s, light £2 5s to £2 12s and smaller and unfinished sorts £1 10s to £2 Bs. Large stores made £1 5s to £2 ss, slips £1 3s to £1 14s, and weaners 12s to £1 7s. Sows with litters sold at up to £lO 10s, and sows in pig from £3 10s to £6 15s. Boars made £1 to £6 ss. Baconers sold at 6-Jd to 7jd per lb. and porkers at 7£d to Bd.
