AUGUST BANK HOLIDAY SOMERSET EXPERIENCEE WORST IN MEMORY (British Official Wireless.) Reed. 2.15 p.m. RUGBY, Aug. 2. In most parts of Britain the August Bank Holiday week-end was favoured by fine weather and the highest temperatures of the year were were registered yesterday at Brighton and other places, where the thermometer reading was' 80 degrees. In Devonshire and Cornwall and the Lake Districts of England, however, violent thunderstorms with torrential rain were experienced and in parts of Somerset the storms are said to have been the worst within living memory. Rail and road traffic was exceptionally heavy.
