Acting on the authority of the At-torney-General, the Hon. 11. G. R. Mason, an inquest was held to-day by the coroner, Mr. V. E. Winter into the death of Robert Douglas Neigh, aged 31, and Ivan Martinac, aged 27, two of the 21 victims of the Kopuawhara tragedy on the morning of February 1!) last, when No. 4 railway construction camp was washed away. The bodies of these two men had never been recovered. After hearing evidence of identification and details of the search carried out, the coroner stated that from the evidence given, he was quite satisfied (hat hotli men were drowned when the camp was swept away. A diligent search was made for the bodies, but without success. There was every reason to believe that the bodies of the two men were cither buried in a deep deposit of silt, or were washed out to sea. He returned a finding accordingly.
