NO RACES TO-DAY
TURF CLUB MEETING
WEATHER FORCES ISSUE
MEET STARTS TO-MORROW
"POINT-TO-POINT'", OFF
Meeting this morning, the committee of the Poverty Bay Turf Club decided that in view of the weather conditions, there was no alternative to.postponing the programme of races originally set down for to-day. The club's winter meeting will commence to-morrow and will be concluded on Saturday, the club having been assured that there is no possibility of securing a special permit for racing on Saturday and Monday. Yesterday's bright weather during the afternoon had held out hopes of a general clearing up after a period of exceptionally persistent rain, but last night rain recommenced, and this morning's heavy showers left the committee with no other course but- to hold over the dayVprograrrime. In consequence of the weather and the postponement of the Turf Club's first-day programme until to-morrow, the committee of the Poverty Bay Hunt Club to-day decided to abandon the point-to-point meet which had been arranged for to-morrow.
