SPRINT AT DOOMBEN ACCEPTORS FOR CUP (Kloc. Tot. Copyri Eht —United Press Assn.) (Reed. June 27, 9 a.m.) BRISBANE, June 27. Unusual interest was aroused at the Doomben races in the Newmarket Handicap, of £3OOO, in which the best sprint horses of the four States were engaged. Results: —
Newmarket Handicap, of £3000; G furlongs.—Hamurah, 8.12 (Heath), 1: Bahwing, 7.12 (Carmont), 2; Spear Chief. 8.12 (Booshand), 3. All started. Auric's Star tried to win all the way, but the Doncaster Handicap winner, Hamurah, came with a brilliant run in the straight and won stylishly by two lengths, with a neck between second and third. Tijine, 1.14 J. The course was heavy. The Carnival Handicap was won by Cooranga from Sculptor, Silkfelt and nine others, including Mananui. Acceptors for the Doomben Cup on July 2 arc as follows: —Spear, Chief 9.1, Mala 8.13, Brown Force B.G, Mananui 8.5, Spinifex 8.4, Millie’s Hope, Spearbleau 8.0, Spear Prince 7.11, C.1.D., Highborn, Silkfelt 7.9, Autoland 7.8, Joonlar 7.7, Sculptor 7,5, Dutiful 7.4, Bianconi, Buzwind 7.2, Brown Lance, Cooranga, Love From Maggie, Tooloomba, Vivat Rex 7.0.
