PHOSGENE GAS

BRITISH SUPPLY ALLEGED DENIAL IN COMMONS QUERIES TO MINISTER, ITALY AND MANCHUKUO (British Official Wireless.) Reed. noon. RUGBY, Dec. 8. Questioned in the House of Commons regarding a Japanese allegation that five tons of phosgene gas had been shipped from England to China, the Parliamentary Secretary for Overseas Trade, Captain D. Euan Wallace, said that no phosgene had been exported from Britain since the beginning of the year save three tons consigned to dye works in Holland.

The Foreign Secretary, Mr. Anthony Eden, said that as far as he was aware no Government had proposed a further meeting of the Far Eastern advisory committee of the League of Nations.

Replying to a further question, Mr. Eden said that Italy's recognition of Manchukuo appeared to be inconsistent with the League's recommendation of September, 1933. Mr. Eden stated that the text of China's protest to Geneva did not appear to call for any action by Britain at Geneva.
