ROTO ARIA ANGLING
APPEAL BY CROWN CASE NOT TO PROCEED (Per Press Association.) AUCKLAND, last night. When the recent test case against eight Auckland sportsmen, who were charged with fishing on Lake Roto Aira in the Taupo district contrary to the regulations, was dismissed in the Police Court by Mr. R. C. Orr Walker, S.M., who held the regulations were invalid, an appeal was lodged by the Crown on a point of law. The case involved the right of Europeans to fish in the waters of this lake, which have hitherto been reserved solely for members of the local Maori tribe. Advice has been received that the appeal is not to be proceedd with. The confiscated fishing gear was restored to the sportsmen concerned some little time ago.
