Patutahi
The monthly meeting of the Patutahi Women's Institute, presided over by Mrs. R. Baty, was 2iot well attended owing to the inclement weather. The election of a delegate to the council meeting in Wairoa was held over until next month.
A piece of birthday cake forwarded by the Wigan institute was distributed among those present. Arrangements for the annual ball to be held on September 15 were made as far as possible. The lecturer for the day, Mrs. Hambly, gave a very interesting and instructive talk on a visit to the leper station. Mrs. Hambly was accorded a hearty vote of thanks. The competition, a jar of marmalade, resulted: Mrs. Stubbings, 1; Mrs. Clark, 2; Mrs. H. Atkins, 3.
