R.S.A. CORONATION BALL (Herald Correspondent.) The Gaiety Theatre, Ruatoria, was the scene of a very jolly dance given on Friday by the R.S.A.. The evening was ideal for dancing as it was clear and cold witli an exceptionally heavy frost. The hall was gaily decorated with flags hung all round the walls, intermingled with large clusters of coloured balloons. A large crown was suspended in the centre of the hall. The stage, where the orchestra played* was gay with flags, greenery and bright lights. The supper tables looked most effective with artistically arranged bowls of red and white paper roses and real rose leaves. The dance music was supplied by Mrs. Thomson’s orchestra from Gisborne, and extras were played by Mr. C. Russell. A sumptuous sit-down supper was supplied by the returned soldiers’ wives. Before the conclusion of the ball Mr. P. G. Burton, acting-president during Mr. J. B. Taplin’s absence in England, thanked all for making the dance a success, both socially and financially.
