school commit™-: .meets (Herald Correspondent.) The monthly meeting of the Tolaga Bay School Committee was held at Mrs. Sheather's tea-rooms last evening, those present being Captain Fraser, chairman. Airs. Sheather, Aliss Goddard, Messrs. F. AI. Cleary, F. W. Shelton, A. W. Dover, E. Harries. V. Currie, acting headmaster, and V F. Hurlstonc, acting secretary, in the absence of Airs. G. W. King.

A letter was received from the Hawke's Bay Education Board announcing the appointment of Air. Thomas G. McCullough as headmaster to fill the vacancy caused by the resignation of Mr. J. Watson. Air. AlcCullough was appointed out of 20 applicants.

The closing of the school from July 19 to 25. to enable the teachers to attend the teachers’ conference was authorised.

A letter from the lion, secretary of the Primary Schools Committees' Association, Mr. D. M. Gracie. was read inviting the appointment of delegates to attend the monthly meeting of the association. —Captain Fraser and Air. Shelton were appointed delegates. The headmaster’s report was read by Mr. Currie. Mr. Currie requested that the windows of the High School should be protected by wire netting, and enumerated sundry small reauirements for the school. He thanked Mr. Cleary for supplying the goal posts and for the hedge trees, and remarked upon the increased interest which was being taken in basketball.—lt was decided that the various school requirements should be procured by the headmaster. It was further decided that a post and netting fence should be erected from the primary school to the high school to protect the lawns and garden. The necessary arrangements were made for the school ball. The date was fixed for August 13. and it was agreed to call a meeting of parents at the school to complete the arrangements.
