STRENUOUS WRESTLING
VICTORY FOR McCREADY RUMBERG DOWN ONCE (Per Press Association.) AUCKLAND, last night. The powerful Canadian wrestler. Earl McCrcady, who is an outstanding contender for the world’s heavyweight title, made his reappearance in Auckland on Saturday night, when he defeated Hal Rumburg by one fall in a professional contest. The bout, which went the full eight rounds, provided the large crowd with a fast and strenuous exhibition. The winning fall came in the seventh round after a spirited exchange of spectacular holds. After being whirled in the air in a giant swing, McCready bored in quickly to drop Rumberg with a light dump. The latter was on 1 his feet quickly and endeavoured to retaliate with a dump. However. McCready anticipated the move, twisted cleverly in mid-air. and came down heavily on Rumberg to take a fall with a press.
