ELECTRICITY FOR WAIROA
DISPUTED ACCOUNT COUNCIL’S COUNTER REPLY (Hetald Correspondent.) At the Wairoa Borough Council meeting last week the electricity committee reported as follows in reference to the bulk purchase electricity account: “The Wairoa Power Board has advised that it is anxious to expedite the matter of the appointment of an arbitrator and has submitted the names of five persons, it considers would be competent to under, take the arbitration, advising that it is agreeable to any one of these acting provided he could undertake the arbitration within a reasonable time. “The committee is of the opinion that the board should be advised that in view of the high costs already incurred,' llm further high cost of arbitration, and the fact that the dispute between the Palmerston North City Council and the Manawatu-Ororu Electric Power Board has been finally settled, the court offer is still open, this being for the council to pay standard k.v.a. rates, plus 5 per cent, and plus £3O per annum for servicing. “The committee recommends that consideration of the names submitted by the board bo held over pending a reply te the above offer.”
