SEVERE WHIRLWIND
DAMAGE AT WHANANAKI A severe whirlwind struck the beach camping resort at Whananaki, North Auckland, doing considerable damage, which fortunately did not Injure anyone, owing to the fact that the area is sparsely populated. A bach belonging to Mr. C- 11-eed, ol Whangarei, was smashed to pieces, the iron and timber being found nearly half a mile away. Mr. A. L’adman, ol llikurangi, found that the roof of Jiis bach hail also been removed. A fanner's cowshed was unroofed, and a track was ploughed through the mangrove swamp 011 the river bank for some considerable distance, while several large pohutukawa trees on the river bank were uprooted. Such a visitation is rare in this district.
