MURIWAI FLOODING

REQUEST FOR HELP

INSPECTION BY MINISTER

Yesterday morning the Minister of Public Works, the Hon. li. Semple, in the course of his .journey to Wairoa, visited the area between Muriwai and Manutuke. Here he inspected the land adjacent to .Mr. b'obeke's homestead. This area is liable to flooding and representations were made to the .Minister for some assistance.

Semple expressed his sympathy with the unfortunate settlers in this area, and gave it as his opinion that the work which had been (lone on the riverbanks liad been started at the wrong end of the river.
