I The ceremony for the hoisting of'the main beam, or taahu, took place at the -celebrated Porourangi meeting-house at Wai-o-mafatini on Wednesday, the occasion being celebrated by a. feast. jThe tribesmen of the parish 'of Waiapu "11 assisted in the raising of the main
beam, which was then lowered into position on the pou taahus. The ladies are to be congratulated on the excellent feast with which the occasion was celebrated. Wai-o-matatini is a scene of marked activity, ,the local ladies working all day long at their tukutuku work, or weaving, while the local tribesmen with n number of teams and drays are filling in the old meeting-house site.
