LONDON WOOL SALES
"FEARSOME" HEIGHTS
REAL TEST TO COM I
LONDON, April 27
Dawsons, Limited, in a report commenting on t!ie opening oi' the London wool sales, says" the heights prices attained wore almost fearsome and made people nervous, but all old cross bred stocks were completely cleared.
"The position .appears impregnable," continues the report. ".Merinos advanced more modestly, but with limited supplies and a strong general demand, prices may still be buoyant. The real test must shortly be faced at Sydney and Brisbane when supplies are more plentiful." Meanwhile consumption of all grades has developed at an unexpected rate for both tops and wool, most European mills being at a low level. The outstanding feature of the season has been the resumption of Russian operations. The unexpected strong support from America also helped the market. The home trade finds difficulty in making ends meet, and whether selling or buying it is being dragged .at the heels' of the strong world demand.
