REBELS REPULSED

A report from Madrid states the Spanish Government claims that after three days of attack on the key position of Naval Bora I, 40 miles to the northwest of Madrid, the rebel forces have* been repulsed. Reports received at Madrid indicate heavy lighting at Oviedo in the north, where 15,CCD miners, flinging bombs and dynamite sticks, attacked the rebels, and are holding the centre of the town and heights dominating the streets, into which they pour a withering fire from machine-gun nests. The insurgents claim that they repulsed the attack. A l’aris message says that a'correspondent of the Echo de Palis at Caceres interviewed tho rebel leader. General Franco,. who described as madness reports that the insurgents proposed to cede portions of Spanish territory to foreign countries in return for assistance in the civil wai.
