ENGINEER GAOLED
OFFENCE IN CITY SHOP ADMISSION IN COURT (For Press Association.) AUCKLAND, this day. A civil engineer, Octavius George Garlick, aged 49 years, was to-day sentenced lo gaol for three months lor wilful obscene exposure in a Queen street shop on Thursday night. The accused pleaded guilty. Tho police said that Garlick entered a Queen street shop about 9.30 o’clock end ordered some sweets from a young woman who was alone on duty. He then committed the offence. An attendant had called Garlick a “filthy brute.” He ran away, and a taxi driver who was then entering (lie shop chased and gave him in charge. “My duty is to protect girls from mfen of this sort,” said Air. F. K. Hunt, SAL, in passing sentence.
