HOUSES FOR WORKERS
SHORTAGE IN COUNTRY FARMERS' UNION INTEREST "If a young man takes up farm work he is practically condemning himself to single blessedness," said Mr. Bayliss, a member of the South Taranaki Farmers' Union executive, when the executive was discussing in N'ew Plymouth the shortage of proper accommodation for workers in the rural areas of Taranaki. Mr. W. A. Sheath, the president, said the Government should give immediate attention to the housing problem in the country, where it was much more pressing than in the cities. The executive delayed representations to the Government until replies have been received to its questionnaire on the farm labour - situation, the two subjects being closely related!
