ELECTION OF OFFICERS
THE INCORPORATED BODY
The first meeting of the Poverty Bay Early Settlers' Association since it became an incorporated body was held in : .he Masonic Hall on Saturday afternoon, when officers for the ensuing year were elected and other necessary business attended to.
Officers elected were :—President, Mr. \V. Hay; vice-presidents, Mm D. Blair and Messrs. A. Kirk and J, H. Smith; secretary and treasurer, Mr. S. V. Beaufov; committee, Mesdames Baty, J. Nesh'itt. A. Lewis, J. Somervell and R. M. Martin, Messrs. W. Peryer, Charles Gordon. T. G. Lawless, and \V. Sandilant; lion, auditor, Mr. I. J. Quigley; country representatives, Mrs. A. E. Gibson, Matawai, Messrs. J. B. Clark, Patutahi, B. J. Brown, Puba, W. F. Hatton, Ormond, and F. W. Peddle, Motu. Mrs. Blair and Mr. Hay were appointed trustees to control the funds of the association. It was agreed that members of the old unincorporated association should be treated as members of the incorporated body up to March 31. Several members spoke of the good work that had been done by Mr. T. G. Lawless during his period as secretary of the association, and the progress the association had made under his secretarial guidance.
It was agreed that future meetings should be held in the secretary's office at 2 p.m. every second Saturday in the month.
