VITAL STATISTICS
; GISBORNE RETURNS MARRIAGE NOTICES UP Vital statistics for September in the Gisborne district show increases in all divisions, a notable feature being the sustained increase in the number of marriage notices, attributable perhaps to the new prosperity observable in the community. . . Tlie number of marriage notices issued from the office of tlie Gisborne registrar for the month was 20, and while this figure has been exceeded more than once in recent months, the total for the nine-months from January to September, inclusive, 151, is higher than for any of the past 13 years. Last year during tho same period, 125 marriage notices weje issued. Births showed an increase of two over last September, deaths exceeded those of last September by six, and marriages performed by the registrar doubted the number recorded in the corresponding month of last year. The statistics are given for comparison in the following, tables: Sept. Sept. 1935 1936 Births 2° 31 Deaths H *' Marriages notified ... 13 20 !
