The vice-chairman of the national savings movement estimates that the savings of small investors amount to £2 848,000,000, including £584,000,000 in' the Post Office Savings Bank, £242,000,000 in national savings certificates, and £1,515,000,000 in building societies, friendly, industrial and provident societies, and industrial assurances.
